Sakana Belgian Linen Pillow

Palmetto Pink
  • About Sakana, the pattern Adapted from a 1950’s CW Stockwell pattern from our ongoing “Trend of the Times” collection, Sakana (meaning “fish” in Japanese) celebrates the spirit of the koi fish, which has long been associated with good luck and longevity.

We worked with LA-based designer Joe Lucas of Lucas Studio to bring this pattern back from our archives in wallpaper form for the “Palmetto Snug”, his space at the 2020 Kips Bay Decorator Show House in Palm Beach. The “Palmetto Pink” variation is based exactly upon one of the original colorways from the 1950’s collection; Lucas’s vision helped to herald its timeless appeal with other rich material selections like a terrazzo surround shower and a custom vanity by Los Angeles design duo Lawson-Fenning.

Hand-printed in Los Angeles, each colorway also includes metallic gold-foil ink to accentuate the distinctive swim style of each fish.

About Sakana, the pillow All of the pillows in our Belgian Linen collection are made to order in Los Angeles, California. The fabrics are printed in small batches by hand by our partners at a family-owned facility on the finest (and softest) Belgian Linen, and your pillows will be cut and sewn to order just a mile down the road from there by another family-owned workshop. We've been working with both of these partners for over a decade because they're simply the best at what they do.

about SAKANA: the life aquatic.

We partnered with our friend, Los Angeles based designer Joe Lucas and his team at Lucas Studio Interiors to re-release this seafaring wonder of a pattern from our 1950's archives for. Shown at left - the bathroom of Lucas' Palmetto Snug, at the Kips Bay Palm Beach Decorator Show House in 2020.
